The Hermetic Order
of the Golden Dawn®
in
Britain
For many years the Hermetic Order of the Golden
Dawn® has been the touchstone for the different
magical traditions in the United Kingdom. It
has been the influence for some of the Western
Mystery Tradition's greatest names including
William Wynn Westcott and Samuel Liddell MacGregor
Mathers, Aleister Crowley, Alan Bennett, Florence
Farr, A.E. Waite, Dion Fortune, Colonel Seymour,
Christine Hartley, W.E. Butler and W.B. Yeats.
Although the direct lineage of the original
order ended when the Whare Ra temple in New
Zealand closed its doors, almost immediately
it found a new, more modern expression in the
United States in 1977. This Order was formed
under the direct mentorship of Israel Regardie.
For the last decade, the Hermetic Order of
the Golden Dawn® has been operating in the birthplace
of the original order. This modern expression
is a School of the Soul, which balances the
seeker and provides him or her with the Hermetic
knowledge and experience required to walk the
path of magic.
The Order uses the traditional methods of
the Golden Dawn to help an individual to know
themselves and to bring about change in their
lives. All initiations are performed free of
charge.
The Order opens its doors to people of all
religions and races, so that all its members
can experience the more practical applications
of ceremonial magic with Egyptian, Judeo-Christian,
Greek, Gnostic, Rosicrucian and Masonic elements.
The curriculum includes the study of Qabalah,
astrology, divination, inner alchemy, Egyptian
magic, skrying and Enochian magic.
The Order remains secret and membership is
limited. There are several temples in the United
Kingdom. We are not interested in huge organisations
but would rather focus on small, devoted groups
who do magical work.
