A Public Announcement

On February 11, 1997, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Inc. (also called H.O.G.D.), a non-profit corporation based in Florida, was granted a registered trademark by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Our organization has been and continues to be the sole and exclusive owner of United States Trademark Registration No. 2,034,866. The corporation grants certification to use the name; Golden Dawn to a number of different groups and third parties who work within the Golden Dawn Tradition. All certified groups are completely independent from the Florida corporation, as we have no desire to interfere with the esoteric teachings or administration of such organizations. Previously certified groups include:The Hermetic Sanctuary of Ma'at Order of the Golden Dawn, The Open Source Order of the Golden Dawn, Sodalitas Rosae Crucis et Solis Alat, The Hermetic Order of the Morning Star (DBA), The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn.

We wish to assure the public that there will be no attempt to impede the rights of authors and publishers to write and to publish books and articles concerning the Golden Dawn. There will also be no attempt to interfere with the legitimate and lawful rights of individuals to use the traditional teachings, symbolism, ceremonial implements, etc. of the Golden Dawn for their spiritual growth, or of the legitimate and lawful rights of magical and Hermetic groups and organizations to use the traditional teachings and symbolism of the Golden Dawn in their private magical or esoteric work. It was the late Dr. Israel Regardie's clear and undisputed desire that any and all spiritual seekers be able to draw upon the teachings of the Golden Dawn for personal evolution and growth, regardless of whether or not they are a member of any Golden Dawn Temple or Order.

We are opposed to Internet flame wars, slander, and other unfortunate manifestations of wasted time and energy. We are opposed to the deliberate harassing of authors, groups, fraternities, libraries, or individuals by anyone who seeks to control, dominate, or otherwise inhibit the magical growth or esoteric work of spiritual seekers through threats, bullying, internet slander or abuse, or other manipulative tactics.
